Hi! I am John Murphy, the guy in the top right of the picture, and a clinical soft tissue therapist based in Stourbridge in the West Midland with clients from all over the UK. I also train and rehab people using kettle bells and other exercise therapy. My aim is to make myself redundant by teaching my clients how to look after themselves.
My clients typically have a sports injury, work related injury such as a repetitive strain injury (RSI), have had an accident such as a whiplash injury or are in rehab following orthopaedic surgery. I especially enjoy treating neck problem and back problems.
Just daily living knocks the living daylights out of your body, let alone the stresses imposed by sport and training, or long hours at the desk keeping the boss happy. Of course, things get worse following any sort of injury or surgery. The resulting damage to muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons typically leads to some sort of dysfunction including poor posture, muscle imbalances, bio-mechanical problems and trigger points. In turn, this leads to a combination of pain, weakness, and joint problems. Sadly, these problems are rarely addressed successfully by doctors, surgeons, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors or (sports) masseurs, and there are few of us working in this specialised field.
Over the last 10 years I have worked with clients ranging from young children to pensioners and from musicians to international athletes; including the UK karate team, competitors in the Britain's strongest man competition and international tennis and hockey players. Most of what I do is based on experience and integrates numerous techniques but I have also attained a Certificate in Massage, a Diploma in Management of Activity Injuries, a Certificate in Sports Event Massage, an Advanced Diploma in Sports Therapy and a Certificate in Remedial Exercise. I have also attended numerous courses and seminars including advanced bio mechanics, the Kettlebell Instructor's Course and the Fascial Touch Workshops.
Please use the menu on the left to find out more about what I can do for you, or just contact me.
